Coffee

I roast my own coffee in small 2oz batches in a Fresh Roast Plus 8 roaster. Sweet Marias is an excellent resource for a wide variety of quality green (unroasted) coffee beans.

Most of my opinions are biased by my own taste in coffee towards to a fairly strong brew full city plus style roast. The insipid dishwater you get in American diners is not drinkable - to quote Abraham Lincoln: "If this is coffee, please bring me some tea; but if this is tea, please bring me some coffee".

Making coffee

I've recently purchased a 1950s pot-belly style GE percolator from Ebay for $30 plus shipping that I'm extremely happy with, it makes wonderful strong coffee; thanks to Michael Ruhlman for his inspirational blog post on the subject that led me to do this.

The Chemex Coffee Maker also looks very interesting, but I've not tried it yet.

I have a Cuisinart DCC-1200 Drip Coffee maker, which I'm convinced makes significantly better coffee than most drip systems do.

The other system that I use frequently and like a lot is the Aeropress
